CAT-iq) is the global technology platform for wireless voice, light data communications and broadband home connectivity. Embraced by leading European operators, CAT-iq is already implemented in home gateways and handsets.
CAT-iq takes DECT to the next level. Initiated and promoted by the DECT Forum and defined in conjunction with the Home Gateway Initiative (HGI), the specification was implemented by the
European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). In addition, it was adopted by CableLabs for use in embedded multimedia terminal adapters (eMTAs) for cable operator deployment.
CAT-iq assimilates broadband Internet and advanced cordless telephony. The platform enables DECT phones to work with VoIP and other Internet-based services, thereby delivering HD voice while ensuring vendor-independent interoperability and environmentally-friendly standards. The DECT Forum manages an associated certification program to guarantee CAT-iq's quality and compliance with standards.

® has been deeply involved in all stages of defining CAT-iq since its inception, through participating in the DECT Forum and defining ETSI DECT NG specifications. DSP Group is also an active member of the Home Gateway Initiative (HGI), and supports the specification activities of CableLabs. These efforts have contributed to the evolution and implementation of CAT-iq in various markets and applications.
Leveraging its market leadership in DECT, DSP Group has invested significant resources in shaping the CAT-iq standard. The golden units and first 11 certified products of CAT-iq 1.0 are based on DSP Group platforms, utilizing the company's ICs and proven wideband audio (HD voice) technology. The company's solutions have also powered the first group of CAT-iq 2.0-certified handsets and home gateways and the official CAT-iq 2.0 certification protocol test equipment. CAT-iq 2.0, the next-generation cordless telephony protocol, enables HD voice and a clear, richer and more natural sound. DSP Group offers full reference designs that include proven market-ready CAT-iq software running on several of its IC platforms.
The company already has developed the defined parts of future CAT-iq 2.1 and CAT-iq 3.0 profiles, and is providing support for CAT-iq 3.0 specification prior to market development.
