Recognizing rising consumer-wide demand for additional and more sophisticated mobile applications both inside and outside the home, DSP Group is reshaping the home telephony experience by creating the next wave in cordless phones.

Combining industry-leading expertise and innovation, DSP Group has developed a highly advanced multimedia cordless phone reference design. As part of the Company's line of connected multimedia home terminals, the reference design enables cost-effective development of always-on multimedia handsets featuring an intuitive interface, user-friendly touch screen and virtual keyboard.

Changing the way users perceive their home phone, the next-wave handset enables enhanced home telephony, as well as immediate access to information and diverse applications such as widgets, music, video and e-mail for the home and family. Comprised of a complete software set that includes a BSP, operating system, middleware and access to an application store, the reference design is also Wi-Fi and DECT/CAT-iq-compliant as part of the Google Android® framework.

Highly portable, built on an open platform, and easily personalized, the DSP Group-designed multimedia cordless handset is based on the Company's innovative XpandR® III solution, a comprehensive chipset integrating Wi-Fi and DECT. XpandR III features dual-core ARM Cortex®-A8 and ARM926 processors, HD video decoder and encoder engines, a 2D/3D graphics engine, a security processor, Wi-Fi and DECT baseband processors, an analog front end, and software packages. As such, XpandR III is equipped with all of the components needed to develop a range of new and advanced portable and location-free multimedia products.

By bringing Wi-Fi networking and DECT telephony to a single device, XpandR enables the development of new and exciting value-added communications services to the home. In addition, the next-wave handset is ideal for home-specific applications such as home automation, camera monitoring and universal remote control. Ergonomically designed and not limited by form factor, it is also perfectly suited for voice calls, high-quality audio applications and gaming.
