DP52

Overview

The DP52 is a highly integrated quality codec, analog front end (AFE), and power management unit that implements audio, analog and power management functionality for DSP Group™'s next-generation XpandR™ family of multimedia chipset solutions.

Incoming and outgoing digital audio samples are carried out through the I2S interface connected to the XpandR IC. Stereo sound is achieved via high-quality Σ-Δ converters connected to a high-quality AFE, while audio inputs are available through the microphone amplifier and line-in connection. Integrated speaker amplifier and slow D-A converters round out the AFE component, offering broad functionality for multimedia handsets, media phones, multimedia tablets, and other applications.

The integrated, rich and versatile power management unit supplies all power-related functionality to the XpandR system, thereby considerably minimizing external bill of materials (BOM) costs and system power consumption. Overall control and monitoring of the chip is carried out via a standard SPI interface along with a dedicated interrupt.

Comprised of hardware and software development kits, the innovative XpandR system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution is suitable for mass-market adoption, while ensuring fast time to market.
