JBox - JTAG Interface
Improving software and application development capabilities and providing efficient code debug competence are among ParthusCeva's top priorities. This is demonstrated by the newly released JTAG interface, named JBox. The JBox enables operating in debug emulation mode for all ParthusCeva SmartCores. It provides a bridge between the PC host and the target board and allows JTAG high-speed communication with the DSP subsystem for software development and debug.
The JBox uses a standard 4-signal JTAG connection to communicate with the target DSP platform. It communicates with a PC via standard Parallel-Port (EPP/SPP modes) or via a USB port interface.
The JBox can be driven by either a standard power supply, a regulated 3.3V power supply to the target board, or by the USB cable. Additionally, it supports general-purpose connectors to allow direct reset and any other general-purpose signal generated by the PC host.

JBox features include:
- PC Parallel-Port (EPP/SPP modes) or USB (soon to be implemented) connections for communication with PC applications
- JTAG connector to interface the chip on any platform
- External 9V-12V AC/DC power supply connector
- Fixed power regulator of 3.3V to drive the target board
- General purpose I/Os, controlled by the PC, to increase debug capabilities
